Can Not Stop ASM Instance Permanently On A Cluster When ASM Is No Longer Required

(Doc ID 1631029.1)

Last updated on MARCH 31, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 11.2 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Oracle Clusterware was installed with OCR and Voting disks on ASM initially, ACFS was installed too. Later the OCR and Voting disks are moved to a cluster file system so ASM is no longer required.
ASM is shutdown via "srvctl stop asm -f". However, after a node reboot, ASM instance is still started automatically.
