Symptoms

The following error is being reported in the alert log file:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [PC:0xE844] [SIGSEGV] [ADDR:0x8] [PC:0xE844] [Invalid permissions for mapped object] []

The trace file written by the error shows that it is reported by RMAN backup and the Call Stack in that trace shows several functions which are not part of any Oracle Software :
