10.2.0.5 DBCA "Instance Management" is grayed out when adding an Second Instance (Doc ID 1642695.1)

Symptoms

The following error will occur when adding an second instance on standby database via DBCA from 10.2.0.4 home.

The database options like,  'Configure Database Options',  'Delete a Database', 'Instance Management' are grayed out.

From DBCA Screen shot,

 

1) From OCR dump,

[DATABASE.DATABASES.stdby_db]
ORATEXT : STDBY_DB
SECURITY : {USER_PERMISSION : PROCR_ALL_ACCESS, GROUP_PERMISSION : PROCR_WRITE, OTHER_PERMISSION : PROCR_READ, USER_NAME : orafprod1, GROUP_NAME : dba}

[DATABASE.DATABASES.stdby_db.ORACLE_HOME]
ORATEXT : /u01/fprod/oracle/fproddb/racfprod/                     << You have a trailing "/"   in the value of ORACLE_HOME key

[DATABASE.DATABASES.stdby_db.DB_NAME]
ORATEXT :                                                                     <<  Database name is null

SECURITY : {USER_PERMISSION : PROCR_ALL_ACCESS, GROUP_PERMISSION : PROCR_WRITE, OTHER_PERMISSION : PROCR_READ, USER_NAME : orafprod1, GROUP_NAME : dba}

 

2) srvctl config database -d STDBY_DB -a

$ srvctl config database -d STDBY_DB -a
Node2 FPROD2 /u01/fprod/oracle/fproddb/racfprod/             << The problem is oracle home have an additional '/' registered in the OCR
DB_NAME: null
ORACLE_HOME: /u01/fprod/oracle/fproddb/racfprod/
SPFILE: null
DOMAIN: null

START_OPTIONS: null
POLICY:  AUTOMATIC
ENABLE FLAG: DB ENABLED
