SDO_AGGR_SET_UNION Results in ORA-03113 when Spatial_vector_acceleration is Set to True in 12c (Doc ID 1644496.1)

Symptoms

Getting ORA-03113 errors when aggregating geometries when the SPATIAL_VECTOR_ACCELERATION parameter is set
to TRUE, e.g.-

alter session set spatial_vector_acceleration = true;
declare
shapes  mdsys.sdo_geometry_array;
shape   mdsys.sdo_geometry;
begin
select z.geom bulk collect into shapes from spatial_bug.some_zips z ;
shape := sdo_aggr_set_union( shapes, 0.5 );
dbms_output.put_line( sdo_util.GetNumVertices( shape) ) ;
end;
/

Output =>
 
ERROR:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

declare

When SPATIAL_VECTOR_ACCELERATION parameter is set to FALSE, the sdo_aggr_set_union completes successfully.
