Symptoms

Running multiple RAC instances, an instance may terminate with errors like:

ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 32792 bytes (callheap,kdbmal allocation)
ORA-27103: internal error
Linux-x86_64 Error: 12: Cannot allocate memory
Additional information: 27129
Additional information: -12
Additional information: 4

where Error 27129 is "VLM Map operation failed".

Changes

Parameter _db_block_cache_protect  = "MEDIUM" or "TRUE" was set.
