After Upgrade to Oracle Big Data Appliance V3.0.* a "Memory Overcommit Validation Threshold" Warning May Be Seen if Impala was Previously Installed (Doc ID 1672456.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 02, 2022

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The following Configuration Issues may be seen if Impala was installed prior to the upgrade to Mammoth 3.0.* on Oracle Big Data Appliance.

<HOSTNAME>: Memory Overcommit Validation Threshold
Memory on host <HOSTNAME> is overcommitted. The total memory allocation is 84.8 GiB bytes but there are only 62.8 GiB bytes of RAM (12.6 GiB bytes of which are reserved for the system). Visit the Resources tab on the Host page for allocation details. Reconfigure the roles on the host to lower the overall memory allocation. Note: Java maximum heap sizes are multiplied by 1.3 to approximate JVM overhead.

Note the number for total memory allocation in GiB bytes may vary for each BDA node.
