BDA node unavailable - "/dev/md2 contains a file system with errors" (Doc ID 1674174.1)

Symptoms

One of the nodes in a BDA cluster is "down"/"unavailable/"unreachable".

1.  Pinging the "down" node from another node on the cluster fails:

  

From the ILOM see:

 

4. Upon typing "Control-D and logging into the node via the ILOM, the node can be restarted, but it is still "down" from the point of view of HDFS.
