Executing Any Command in HBase Shell Fails with org.apache.hadoop.hbase.MasterNotRunningException (Doc ID 1900901.1)

Executing any command in HBase Shell fails with the following error:

$ hbase shell
14/06/24 11:34:13 WARN conf.Configuration: hadoop.native.lib is deprecated. Instead, use io.native.lib.available
HBase Shell; enter 'help<RETURN>' for list of supported commands.
Type "exit<RETURN>" to leave the HBase Shell
Version 0.94.15-cdh4.6.0, rUnknown, Wed Feb 26 02:39:04 PST 2014

hbase(main):001:0> describe 'customer'

ERROR: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.MasterNotRunningException: Retried 7 times

Here is some help for this command:
Describe the named table. For example:
  hbase> describe 't1'

hbase(main):002:0> exit

Cloudera Manager(CM) shows that the HBase Service is Healthy and the HBase Master is up and running.


 Kerberos was added to the cluster.
