Last updated on AUGUST 22, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 11.2.2.4.0 and laterOracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Linux x86-64
Goal
Customer wants to drop RECO diskgroup and release the space for DATA diskgroup in Exadata. This note shows the most efficient way to achieve this (with one rebalance), and the exact commands involved.
PLEASE NOTE:
The removal of RECO disk group is against best practices on Engineered Systems and is not advised without proper testing.
If it is performed, the user is responsible for assuring the items (like FRA) which are by default sent to RECO are redirected to other locations.
