(Doc ID 190895.1)
Last updated on FEBRUARY 12, 2019
Applies to:Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.0 and later
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS VAX
In general, it is possible to skip intermediate versions of Oracle Rdb, i.e. to go directly from an old version to a current version without installing and converting to multiple versions. Restrictions were added beginning in v7.0 for converting from very old versions.
RMU/CONVERT in Oracle Rdb 7.0.x will convert only databases already at version 5.1 or higher.
The release notes published with Oracle Rdb 18.104.22.168, 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199 incorrectly state that it is possible to use RMU/CONVERT or RMU/RESTORE to convert an Oracle Rdb database from version 5.1 to version 7.1. The correct minimum version for conversion is 6.0.
RMU/CONVERT in Oracle Rdb 7.2.x will convert only databases already at version 7.0 or higher.
Similarly, RMU/CONVERT in Oracle Rdb 7.3.x will convert only databases already at version 7.0 or higher.
Only affects customers running Oracle Rdb version 5.1.x or lower wanting to convert to Oracle Rdb version 7.0.x or higher.
