Symptoms

The LSNRCTL start command fails with the following error stack:

TNSLSNR for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.4.0 - Production
System parameter file is /u05/app/product/11204/network/admin/listener.ora
Log messages written to /u05/app/product/11204/network/admin/oradiag/diag/clients/host_2640588079_80/alert/log.xml
No longer listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=myhost)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-01197: Listener failed to create the end point
TNS-12532: TNS:invalid argument

Capture a truss of the failure to start using:

truss -o listener.trc -faed lsnrctl start <listener_name>

Check for LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LIBPATH settings in truss like:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/u01/app/oracle/product/.../.../lib

LIBPATH=/u01/app/oracle/product/.../.../lib

Changes

 LIBPATH and/or LD_LIBRARY_PATH must have changed in user profile since the last restart of the listener.
