DG4DRDA to DB2 on z/OS Error ORA-28500 and NativeErr 1248 When Using IBM DB2 Analytic Accelerator (IDAA) (Doc ID 1927771.1)

Last updated on JUNE 08, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Database Gateway for DRDA - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using Database Gateway for DRDA (DG4DRDA) 11.2 installed on AIX 6.1 to connect to an IBM DB2 database on z/OS.

IBM DB2 Analytic Accelerator (IDAA) was recently installed on the z/OS. IDAA works with the DB2 optimizer to streamline queries in order to save time and resources on the mainframe.

Running a query works fine on the mainframe. In some cases (i.e. where IDAA is not engaged), a query using DG4DRDA also works fine.

Using DG4DRDA where IDAA is engaged results in the following error:

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Oracle][ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver]Unhandled CodePoint: 2F {HY000,NativeErr = 1248}
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from ********

Changes

 Recently installed and started using IBM DB2 Analytic Accelerator (IDAA) on z/OS
