Symptoms

Symptom 1- For Upgrades to 12.1

Database upgrade  from 11.2  to 12.1.0.2 fails with the following errors:

ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-00904: "D"."FLAGS": invalid identifier

Symptom 2- For Upgrades to 12.2

Database upgrade to 12.2.0.1 fails with the following errors:

09:42:00 SQL> ALTER TABLE sys.profname$ ADD flags NUMBER DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL;
ALTER TABLE sys.profname$ ADD flags NUMBER DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-00904: "D"."FLAGS": invalid identifier
