Wrong Service Role Distribution After Upgrading A Multi-rack V2.5 Cluster To V3.x (Doc ID 1952919.1)

Last updated on MARCH 20, 2016

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 3.0.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

After upgrade the multi-rack Oracle Big Data Appliance(BDA) CDH cluster from 2.2.1to 2.5 to 3.0.1, the node 01 of Rack2 is overloaded where as node01 of Rack1 has less CDH service roles

Roles on node01 of Rack2:

Namenode
 Datanode
 NodeManager
 JournalNode
 Failover Controller
 Zookeeper
 YARN Gateway
 Hive Gateway

Roles on node01 of Rack1:

 Balancer
 DataNode
 YARN Gateway
 Hive Gateway

On BDA 2.2.1 before upgrade, there is task tracker on node01 of Rack1 along with DataNode and there was no task tracker on the node01 of Rack2 where NameNode resides. However on BDA 3.0.1 after upgrade, the node01 of Rack2 has both NameNode and Node manager services and node01 of Rack1 just has DataNode and not Node manager even though it's a slave node.
