InnoDB AUTO_INCREMENT_ID Values are Lost or Reset to Highest Un-used Value after Server Restart (Doc ID 1957369.1)

Last updated on JUNE 08, 2020

Applies to:

MySQL Server - Version 5.1 to 5.7 [Release 5.1 to 5.7]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

After a server restart (or in some cases, after the table was un-used and closed) the AUTO_INCREMENT_ID may be reset to the maximum value currently stored in the table, forgetting about previously used values that have since been removed.

This is likely to occur and become a problem in situations where data is archive into another table or data source and removed from the table.

 Not Applicable.
