Purpose

In the event of post upgrade issues, time may be of the essence and, as such, having a pre-created Service Request (SR) may be seen as desirable. However, what is more important is to create baseline information for comparison against in the event of a post-upgrade issue.  This article outlines that a pre-upgrade SR may serve as an opportunity to provide a baseline for comparison in the event of upgrade related issues as well as being a place holder of limited value.

This document should be used alongside the following documents to both attempt to avoid problems:

<Document 1482811.1> Best Practices: Proactively Avoiding Database and Query Performance issues
<Document 1477599.1> Best Practices: Proactive Data Collection for Performance Issues

Scope

This document is intended to advise database users on the creation of proactive pre-upgrade SR creation in anticipation of possible performance issues.
