Cloudera Manager Raises "Resource management is disabled for host but at least one of its roles has cgroup parameters set." on BDA V4.0 (Doc ID 1963128.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 22, 2015

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 3.1.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

1. On BDA 4.0 Cloudera Manager reports the following on Hosts 3,4,5 and 6 where Flume is also running:

bdanode03.example.com: Resource management is disabled for host bdanode03.example.com but at least one of its roles has cgroup parameters set. These parameters will have no effect until resource management is enabled.
bdanode04.example.com: Resource management is disabled for host bdanode04.example.com but at least one of its roles has cgroup parameters set. These parameters will have no effect until resource management is enabled.
bdanode05.example.com: Resource management is disabled for host bdanode05.example.com but at least one of its roles has cgroup parameters set. These parameters will have no effect until resource management is enabled.
bdanode06.example.com: Resource management is disabled for host bdanode06.example.com but at least one of its roles has cgroup parameters set. These parameters will have no effect until resource management is enabled.

2. From Cloudera Manager (CM) "Enable Cgroup-based Resource Management" is not enabled:

a) It is not enabled globally from:
Hosts > Configuration > Resource Management > Enable Cgroup-based Resource Management

b) It is not enabled from individual Hosts as:
Hosts > select: bdanode0[3-6]> Configuration > Resource Management > Enable Cgroup-based Resource Management

3. Even though "Enable Cgroup-based Resource Management" is disabled for the cluster the error is only raised on nodes 3,4,5,6 where Flume runs. No messaging is raised on the other nodes in the cluster.

Changes

The BDA rack was recently moved across the Data Center.
