Datafile Creation Slower On Exadata System Than Another (Doc ID 1965565.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 21, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 11.2.3.2.1 to 12.1.2.1.0 [Release 11.2 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Datafile creation is slower on one exadata machine as compared to another exadata machine

Say for example the production is slower than the dev/test.
When creating a tablespace, the dev/test is 6 times faster than the production exadata.

On dev/test:
10:34:59 SYS@testdb12 AS SYSDBA> create bigfile tablespace robtest2 datafile size 200G;
Tablespace created.
Elapsed: 00:00:04.88

On prod:
10:35:56 SYS@proddb21> create bigfile tablespace robtest2 datafile size 200G;
Tablespace created.
Elapsed: 00:01:50.66

So even more than 6 times slower.

Changes

All database parameters are same and there seems no difference in architecture.

There are no offline disks
