Symptoms

12c CVU reports the following error:

$ runcluvfy.sh comp ssa -n <NODE_NAME>1,<NODE_NAME>2 -s /dev/mapper/asm0xxp1 -t ocr_vdisk -r 12.1 -verbose

Verifying shared storage accessibility

Checking shared storage accessibility...

ERROR: /dev/mapper/asm0xxp1
PRVG-11503 : Path "/dev/mapper/asm0xx" of type "Disk" is not suitable for usage as Oracle Clusterware storage for release "12.1". Supported storage types are "NFS, ASM Disk Group, OCFS2, VXFS".


Shared storage check failed on nodes "<NODE_NAME>1,<NODE_NAME>2"

Verification of shared storage accessibility was unsuccessful on all the specified nodes.

"ls" command shows it's a block device:

$ ls -lL /dev/mapper/asm0xxp1
brw-r----- 1 oracle dba 253, 16 Apr 18 11:26 /dev/mapper/asm0xxp1

Below error reported during shared storage accessibility verification using cluvfy with different options
