STREAMS Replication Using DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.MAINTAIN_TABLES reports ORA-06502 (Doc ID 2003861.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 17, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An ORA-06502 is reported when running DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.MAINTAIN_TABLES when you have thousands of tables to replicate.

In this case the customer has 70K tables to replicate or if they use schema level replication they need to exclude 30K tables. So either way having such a large number of tables causes the DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.MAINTAIN_TABLES procedures to fail. The problem manifests itself whether you use the
DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.INSTANTIATION_TABLE or DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.INSTANTIATION_TABLE_NETWORK options.

A configuration script can be generated for the same operations so this is not <Bug 20199849>.
