"ERROR: Could not get ILOM version after 6 retries" Raised After Reboot During Upgrade to BDA V4.2 (Doc ID 2019339.1)

Symptoms

After the reboot to finish patching the OS kernel during upgrade to BDA V4.2 the file:

/root/BDA_REBOOT_FAILED


is found on one of the nodes in the cluster and contains:

# more /root/BDA_REBOOT_FAILED
  

ERROR: Could not get ILOM version after 6 retries

INFO: Error is :

ERROR: Big Data Appliance failed hardware validation checks



It is also observed that the OS is updated:

1. The output from: "dcli -C uname -a" shows all nodes of the cluster have the correct kernel:

# dcli -C uname -a
 
*.*.*.1: Linux bdanode01.example.com 2.6.39-400.249.3.el6uek.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 30 14:25:22 PDT 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
...


2. The output from:  "dcli -C java -version" shows all nodes of the cluster have the correct java version:

# dcli -C java -version
  
java version "1.8.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_45-b14)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.45-b02, mixed mode)
