Oracle Linux 6 : "syntax error, unexpected T_Mask" is logged when starting ntpd. (Doc ID 2019409.1)

Symptoms

The following messages are logged when starting ntpd service.  This could occur when importing ntp.conf from Oracle Linux 5 and earlier environment.  Also, this could occur when upgrading Exadata to version 12.1.2.1.0 or later (Oracle Linux 6) from earlier version (Oracle Linux 5).

Changes

The system was recently upgraded from Oracle Linux 5 to Oracle Linux 6.  For Exadata environment, the system was upgraded to 12.1.2.1.0 or later from earlier version.
