Symptoms

After multi-rack upgrade from BDA V4.1 to BDA V4.2, the NodeManager is not running on Node 2 of Rack 1.

bdacheckcluster raises the error:

ERROR: Node Manager is not running on host bdanode02
ERROR: Big Data Appliance failed cluster health checks

On Node 2 running:

# su yarn -c jps | grep NodeManager

returns no output, indicating a NodeManager is not running on Node 2.

However Cloudera Manager reports the cluster is in good health.
