Accessing HBase from Pig Script Launched inside Oozie Does Not Connect to Zookeeper on BDA (Doc ID 2025422.1)

Symptoms

Pig script using HBase fails due to a Zookeeper connection error like:

main-SendThread(localhost.localdomain:2181)] INFO  org.apache.zookeeper.ClientCnxn  - Opening socket connection to server localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:2181. Will not attempt to authenticate using SASL (unknown error)
