Purpose
To provide information related to using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) version 11.2 for hp OpenVMS Itanium.
Scope
This note is for anyone needing assistance installing the 11.2 software on OpenVMS Itanium. This is intended to supplement the information already available in Oracle 11G Installation Guide Release 2 11.2.0.4 for hp OpenVMS Itanium.

Tip 1: Review the following notes prior to installing the Oracle software. |
Tip 2: Disk space Requirements. |
Tip 3: Review the following notes to avoid problems with low process quotas when running OUI. |

Tip 5: Create the OpenVMS directories for ORACLE HOME, ORACLE BASE, central inventory, and the scratch area prior to using OUI. |

Tip 7: The OUI will report a warning if you specify the Inventory to be a subdirectory of the Oracle Home directory. |
Tip 8: OUI 11g supports Silent installs. |

Tip 10: Unix style directory paths are used throughout Oracle 11.2 |
Tip 11: Installation logs are in the logs directory under your central inventory. |
Tip 12: Ensure that you can invoke the OpenVMS utilities using the default invocation string. |
Tip 13: Ensure that file ownership and permissions are correct. |
Tip 14: The Apache HTTP Server is not available yet. |
Tip 15: Always use OpenVMS logical names when entering paths. |
Tip 16: Ensure that tcpip$inet_host does not include the domain. |
Tip 17: You need a minimum of 2GB of RAM to run Oracle 11g |
Tip 18: JDK/JRE 1.5.0 is bundled with Oracle 11gR2 |
