Symptoms

Applications using SSL/TLS throw "javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: handshake_failure" with Java SE 6 update 101, 7 update 85, or 8 update 51.

Changes

After upgrading the JDK from any earlier revision of Java SE 6 to 6u101.

After upgrading the JDK from 7u80 to 7u85.

After upgrading the JDK from 8u45 to 8u51.

After upgrading JRockit to JDK160_101 Oracle JRockit R28.3.7
