Purpose

This article explains how to restrict users from executing "ALTER SESSION" statement.A user with "CREATE SESSION" privilege can execute "ALTER SESSION" statement and set session level parameters.This article explains how to restrict these actions.

Scope

When a database user is created and granted "CREATE SESSION" privilege,The user can execute most of the "ALTER SESSION" statements that can be Used to change the session level parameters.Once the user has been granted "CREATE SESSION" privilege and when the user Connects, he owns that session and hence can change the session level Parameters.

Please note that to enable and disable SQL*Trace, users must be granted "ALTER SESSION" privilege explicitly.You do not need any privileges to perform the other operations of this statement.
