RDBPROD: JDBC for Rdb 7.3.4 Native Driver Multiprocess Option Returns Invalid Oracle URL (Doc ID 2053424.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 12, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle JDBC for Rdb - Version 7.3.4.0 to 7.3.4.0 [Release 7.3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrading to JDBC for Rdb 7.3.4 the multiprocess option for the Rdb Native driver is no longer recognized. If the connection string is:

jdbc:rdbNative:mf_personnel@multiprocess=true

then this exception is returned:

java.lang.NullPointerException
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.util.Executor.runFromJAVA(Executor.java:155)
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.common.NativeConnect.connect(NativeConnect.java:284)
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.common.NativeConnect.connect(NativeConnect.java:94)
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.rdbNative.Driver.connect(Driver.java:139)
  at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:582)
  at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:154)
  at Native.run(Native.java:31)
  at Native.main(Native.java:10)
Exception in thread "RDB$CLIENT_ID_00000000" oracle.rdb.jdbc.common.RdbException
: Invalid Oracle URL specified
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.common.NativeConnect.connect(NativeConnect.java:366)
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.common.NativeConnect.connect(NativeConnect.java:94)
  at oracle.rdb.jdbc.rdbNative.Driver.connect(Driver.java:139)
  at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:582)
  at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:154)
  at Native.run(Native.java:31)
  at Native.main(Native.java:10)

This also occurs if the option is used in a properties object:

  props.put("multiprocess","true");

There is no error message if the following is used:

  props.put("multiProcess","true");

However this does not create a multiprocess native server, instead the property is silently ignored.
