Linux: /boot Filesystem Full Condition When ACFS Patches are Applied (Doc ID 2065782.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 21, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.3 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 11.2 to 12.1]
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

When patching ACFS drivers (this includes GI PSU Patches) on Linux 6 and above, a filesystem full condition is possible within the /boot filesystem should the filesystem be constrained on space.  Other symptoms include excessive time spent in the root scripts (rootcrs.pl) call to "acfsroot install".

> ' | /sbin/weak-modules --add-modules 2.6.32-504.16.2.el6.x86_64 2>&1 |' returned unexpected output that may be important for system configuration:
..
>
> gzip: stdout: No space left on device
>
> E: dracut: creation of /boot/initramfs-2.6.32-504.3.3.el6.x86_64.tmp failed
>
> gzip: /boot/initramfs-2.6.32-504.3.3.el6.x86_64.tmp: unexpected end of file
