Oracle Data Files should not be placed on the +RECO ASM diskgroup
(Doc ID 2074156.1)
Last updated on NOVEMBER 16, 2015
Applies to:Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 184.108.40.206.0 to 220.127.116.11.0 [Release 11.1 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
If after an upgrade from a version of Exadata less than 18.104.22.168.0 to a version of Exadata software of 22.214.171.124.0 and above the Oracle Database performance is degraded for any database where some or all datafiles are on the +RECO disk group, then the performance degradation may be due to the cachingPolicy atribute of the ASM diskgroup changing from "default" to "none", thus disabling the use of Flash Cache for Data files places on the +RECO ASM disk group.
The customer changed Exadata Software version from below 126.96.36.199.0 to 188.8.131.52.0, by migrating from an X2-2 to an X5 machine. The same symptoms would be seen in any case where the change in the software version was from below 184.108.40.206.0 to 220.127.116.11.0 or higher.
