MySQL Terminates When OS User Logs Out In RHEL 7.2+; RemoveIPC=yes (Doc ID 2081499.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2019

Applies to:

MySQL Server - Version 5.5 and later
MySQL Cluster - Version 7.2 and later
Generic Linux

MySQL crashes in apparently random ways after the operating system user that started MySQL has logged out. This can occur for all Linux distributions using systemd, but is most likely to occur in RHEL 7.2 and later.

The issue only exists for processes run by non-root users.

The issue can start after upgrading to RHEL 7.2 or later or editing the /etc/systemd/logind.conf to enable RemoveIPC.
