After Brief Network Outage ndb_mgm Hangs Or Get a Timeout And the Cluster Log Fills With the Warning: Failed To Convert Connection From ... To Transporter (Doc ID 2082905.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2019

Applies to:

MySQL Cluster - Version 7.2 to 7.4 [Release 7.2 to 7.4]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In MySQL releases prior to 7.4.8, the management node client - ndb_mgm - hangs and eventually times out when trying to connect to the management node:

The rate of the warnings is high and 5MB of logs can be generated in around half an hour or less.

The issue occurs after a brief network outage that typically will not last long enough to shut down any of the data nodes. If the above warnings has not completely filled all of the cluster log files, you are likely to see heartbeat warnings shortly prior to the issue starting.
