All 12c database instances crash with error ORA-29770 when remote site is powered off (Doc ID 2090697.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.


1. This is a RAC extended configuration with two sites (Eg Site A and B).

2. During a site loss test, customer powers off the machines and storage array from a remote site (Eg site B).

3. In the surviving nodes (site A), all the 12c DB instances crash with ORA-29770 when the remote site is powered off:

CKPT (ospid: 19091) waits for event 'enq: XR - database force logging' for 78 secs.
Fri Oct 16 20:13:42 2015
LGWR (ospid: 19082) waits for event 'log file parallel write' for 75 secs.

LMON (ospid: 18896) waits for event 'control file parallel write' for 86 secs.
Errors in file <PATH>//trace/INST1_lmhb_19011.trc (incident=984698):
ORA-29770: global enqueue process LMON (OSID 18896) is hung for more than 70 seconds


4. Customer had in the same cluster a DB, those instances were not affected.


 This is a Extended RAC configuration, where customer is testing a site loss scenario.
