12c Client Applications can Hang or Disconnect

This issue was initially reported as a client application hanging after upgrade to 12c client software.

The Oracle Net server trace shows the following:



The server side is reporting a "connection reset by peer" after a few minutes.

#define ECONNRESET      73  /* Connection reset by peer */

The trace of the client showed it was unaware of the disconnection.  The ECONNRESET  was thrown on the underlying transport level.




This was a recent upgrade to the 12c client.
