Last updated on APRIL 27, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.4 and later
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.4 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [2.6.39] and later
Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 11.2.3.1.0 and later

Symptoms

Trying to start the instance with srvctl leads to:

Comparing the two traces one may see that the connection fails if nscd is used and it is successful if nsswitch.conf is used instead.

Changes

The storage server has been upgraded with newer rpms and the machine rebooted.
