Instance on Solaris Fails to Start with Errors ORA-27122: "unable to protect memory" and "SVR4 Error: 13: Permission denied" (Doc ID 2118379.1)

Symptoms

The instance fails to start on Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit) 11.3 with following error when started with parameter MEMORY_TARGET set like:

SQL> startup;
ORA-27122: unable to protect memory
SVR4 Error: 13: Permission denied
Additional information: 1
Additional information: 15032385536
Additional information: 8192

 
The instance starts up fine without MEMORY_TARGET and with SGA_TARGET set.
