Crash When RMAN Is Executed Via The Oracle DBMS SCHEDULER (Doc ID 2118771.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

After upgrade from 11.2.0.3 to 12.1.0.2.2 RMAN crashes when executed via the Oracle DBMS SCHEDULER

In a nutshell, Oracle is not recognizing the PATH variable being set by the system, thus not finding the path to the EMC binaries correctly. This ONLY seems to occur when RMAN is executed via the Oracle DBMS SCHEDULER. When the exact same RMAN script is executed from the WINDOWS TASK SCHEDULER - or manually from a CMD prompt - it runs correctly and finds everything it needs in PATH.
