How to solve issues with MEM agent causing large spikes in CPU usage due to dying with error similar to:

ERROR [_mem_backlog_.data:net.sf.ehcache.store.disk.DiskStorageFactory] Disk Write of com.mysql.etools.backlog.... ,timestamp=Sun Mar 31 12:00:00  EDT 2016 failed:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
