BDR Replication Fails with "Internal Server Error. org.apache.cxf.interceptor.Fault: Could Not Send Message" when Adding a Peer (Doc ID 2134393.1)

Symptoms

NOTE: In the examples that follow, user details, cluster names, hostnames, directory paths, filenames, etc. represent a fictitious sample (and are used to provide an illustrative example only). Any similarity to actual persons, or entities, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner. 

The following error is returned when trying to add a peer before setting up BDR Replication between two BDA clusters.

Internal Server Error. org.apache.cxf.interceptor.Fault: Could not send Message.

The CM server log reports the following error:

coudera-scm-server.log.1:Caused by: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: SSLHandshakeException invoking https://bdanode03.example.domain:7183/api/v1/users: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
