This document provides information how the Export utility can be used to check the consistency of a database. In addition, the document provides examples how to export the database without creating an export dump file (i.e. writing to a null device).


The article is intended for Database Administrators who need to check the consistency of the data in an Oracle 7, 8, 8i, 9i or 10g database. The article does not deal with how to resolve the data corruption (see other articles mentioned in the "Related Documents"). Also for Oracle 11g, the general use of the traditional export utility has been desupported.
