JDBC URL Option "jdbcCompliantTruncation" with Empty SQL_MODE

Using JDBC on NDB Tables, while trying to perform UPDATE´s on columns defined as NOT NULL, the following error is retrieved:

01 Jun 2016 12:46:09,850 FATAL [Thread-36] <table>: - Column 'column0' cannot be null com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: Column 'column0' cannot be null
