The problem is a decommissioned server not showing up in Cloudera Manager, making it impossible to add it back into the cluster.
Navigating in CM: Home > <Cluster_name> > Hosts, does not show the decommissioned host on the "All Hosts" page. Neither is the decommissioned host visible on the "Decommissioned" list.
Other symptoms include:
a) The CM agent is running on the decommissioned server.
b) Restarting the agent on that server with either of the below does not help:
shows the node was present but the HOST_IDENTIFER as "NULL".
