How to Change the 'hostname' and/or IP Address of an OSB Admin Server (Doc ID 2175161.1)

Last updated on MAY 14, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Backup - Version to [Release 10.4 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

¬†This document contains details for changing the hostname and/or IP address of an OSB admin server, with or without changing the physical hardware. The procedure is meant for making permanent changes and should not be used to create a cluster or failover image of an OSB domain. If only the hardware is changing, and the hostname and/or IP address are to remain the same, please see the document “Migrating an OSB Admin Server to New Hardware (hostname & IP address are retained)”.As a security precaution, OSB is bound to server’s ‘hostname’ and IP address. If its name and/or IP address has changed since the last time observiced started, this will be interpreted as a potential security breach and the software will not be permitted to restart. The /usr/tmp/observiced.log file should contain details of the problem.
