Why is an NFS Gateway Service Restart Required in Cloudera Manager to Prevent an Exported HDFS Mount from Hanging? (Doc ID 2182266.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 14, 2016

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.1.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

The goal here is to provide some troubleshooting tips on why an NFS Gateway service restart is required in Cloudera Manager in the sequence below:

1. An NFS gateway is set up on a BDA node.
2. A mount is exported (for example /test) from HDFS as an NFS filesystem.
3. After this "df -h" shows a hang on the /test mount point.
4. Only an NFS gateway service restart can prevent the hang.
