Purpose

The purpose of this note is how to troubleshoot a BDA 4.6 install failure on Step 1 PreinstallChecks with "Could Not Reach Any Specified DNS Server".

In BDA V4.5 there was a bug such that this failure at Step 1 could happen in error.  The recommendation was to follow: BDA 4.5 Install Fails on Step 1 PreinstallChecks with "Could not reach any specified DNS server" (Doc ID 2146466.1).  This bug is fixed in BDA V4.6 and higher.  So if the BDA 4.6 install fails at Step 1 PreinstallChecks with:

...
INFO: Checking if DNS server is reachable
ERROR: Could not reach any specified DNS server
ERROR: Cannot continue with install #Step 1#
...

troubleshoot the problem as per the steps here.  In BDA 4.5 and higher you can not follow the steps in BDA 4.5 Install Fails on Step 1 PreinstallChecks with "Could not reach any specified DNS server" (Doc ID 2146466.1) as the bug is already fixed.
