Symptoms

The Oracle optimizer fetches data via the gateway. The Oracle optimizer must process the fetched data before asking for more.
During this process, the gateway is in an idle state waiting to hear back from the Oracle server.
Normally, this process works without issue but, on occasion, the optimizer takes longer than anticipated.
When this occurs, the gateway process may sit idle for more than the idle time limit, and the gateway process terminated terminated.
The Oracle server is ready to fetch more data but the gateway process has been terminated and the transaction errors out or causes a hung condition

Common errors include ORA-28500 and ORA-7445.
