Information in this document applies to any platform.


Beginning with Oracle Grid Infrastructure version 12.2, all Oracle Clusterware files (Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and Voting Disks (VD)) *MUST* be stored in ASM.



7.1 Supported Storage Options for Oracle Grid Infrastructure


Storage Options OCR and Voting Files

Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM)

Note: Loopback devices are not supported for use with Oracle ASM

Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System (Oracle ACFS) NO
Local file system NO

Network file system (NFS) on a certified network-attached storage (NAS) filer

Note: Direct NFS Client does not support Oracle Clusterware files

Direct-attached storage (DAS) NO
Shared disk partitions (block devices or raw devices) NO
