Goal

How to move non-empty tables out of the DEFAULT storage area? A number of tables have been created and populated over time, with no storage maps ever defined. The decision has now been made to move the data to separate storage areas.


Note: the DEFAULT storage can be defined when the database is created. use the Interactive SQL SHOW STORAGE AREA statement to see which area is the default for unmapped tables.


In the following solution, we will assume RDB$SYSTEM (as this is most common) but choose the storage area name highlighted by SHOW STORAGE AREAS.
