Symptoms

 Attempting to install BDB, such as with ../dist/configure --enable-sql
make

fails with l -lpthread -wl, -rpath -Wl, /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.6.2/lib
./.libs/libdb_sql-6.2.so: undefined reference to '_crypto_env_refresh'
./.libs/libdb_sql-6.2.so: undefined reference to '_crypto_erase_passwd'
./.libs/libdb_sql-6.2.so: undefined reference to '_crypto_env_close'
./.libs/libdb_sql-6.2.so: undefined reference to '_crypto_algsetup'
./.libs/libdb_sql-6.2.so: undefined reference to '_crypto_decript_meta'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [dbsql] Error 1
