"bdacheckhw" and "bdacheckcluster" Raise "WARNING: Wrong internal USB device () : 0"/"INFO: Expected internal USB device () : 1" (Doc ID 2220698.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 02, 2020

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.6.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The symptom is that bdacheckhw raises:

WARNING: Wrong internal USB device () : 0
INFO: Expected internal USB device () : 1
SUCCESS: No hardware errors reported by ILOM
WARNING: Big Data Appliance warnings during hardware validation checks

You can see the same warning/info raised during actions which invoke bdacheckhw like:
1. Running bdacheckcluster.
2. During the cluster verification checks run by Mammoth installs/upgrades.
3. During reboot where the warnings/infos generate a /root/BDA_REBOOT_WARNINGS file instead of /root/BDA_REBOOT_SUCCEEDED.

When a /root/BDA_REBOOT_WARNINGS file is generated, /root/BDA_REBOOT_WARNINGS and the associated /root/bda_reboot_status files will contain:

WARNING: Wrong internal USB device () : 0
INFO: Expected internal USB device () : 1
WARNING: Big Data Appliance warnings during hardware validation checks
WARNING: Wrong internal USB device () : 0
INFO: Expected internal USB device () : 1
WARNING: Big Data Appliance warnings during software validation checks
